Make sure your microphone is selected in Zoom. During a meeting, select the up arrow next to the Microphone icon and make sure the desired mic is chosen. If other people can hear you, but you can’t hear them, make sure the right speaker is chosen under Select a Speaker.

Ask the meeting organizer to unmute you. If you think the person hosting the meeting muted you, send them a message in chat and ask to be unmuted. Check your device settings.

Go to the device’s settings to see if your mic is enabled. Make sure you properly set up your mic in Windows and select the audio input you want on Mac.

Close other programs that use your mic. Make sure other software isn’t competing for access to your microphone. Check your app permissions. Go into your device’s app settings and ensure Zoom has permission to access your microphone. Update your device’s drivers. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for your exact audio device, and your Windows version, and it will download and install them correctly:.

Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers. Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system. This requires the Pro version which comes with full support and a day money back guarantee. The up-to-date audio driver should make you use the microphone on Zoom without trouble. You can adjust the settings as follows and see whether this brings back your audio input.

Join a meeting to test if your microphone works on Zoom. If the mic-not-working problem remains, please check out the last fix. If none of the solutions above does the trick, you should consider reinstalling Zoom, as this will solve the underlying issues concerning the app itself. Then, type appwiz. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process. Then, download Zoom from the official website and install a fresh new app on your computer.

For Bluetooth devices, make sure you have a fully charged battery. Zoom usually requests access to your mic before you join a meeting, but in case you missed it, you can select Join Audio at the bottom of the Zoom window. If the microphone icon has a line through it in your Zoom window, select the Sound icon to unmute yourself.

During a meeting, select the up arrow next to the Microphone icon and make sure the desired mic is active. If you think the meeting host has inadvertently muted you, send them a message in chat and ask to be unmuted.

Ensure you correctly set up your mic in Windows and select the audio input you prefer on Mac. The reason why rebooting resolves computer problems is that it closes any processes that might be interfering with hardware or software.

If you hear an echo, your microphone may be picking up the audio from another source, such as a TV or an external speaker. To avoid hearing an echo in Zoom, everyone should mute their mic when not speaking. Meeting organizers can mute everyone else in the meeting. If so, the software may be preventing Zoom from accessing your microphone. You can quickly solve this issue by turning off all the programs that may be using your microphone.

Bear in mind that you can apply this fix to other devices as well. Audio issues, especially if they occur suddenly, may be temporary. You can try restarting the Zoom app or even your computer and try logging in again. You may discover that your microphone is now working as usual. Logging into Zoom, you can choose to join with audio on immediately upon entering a meeting. There will be different microphone sources on the list, so choose another and check if other meeting participants can hear you then.

An outdated driver may cause audio to malfunction on your computer. If not, you might need to download a newer version.
